Jefferson County, MO Virtual Video Tours
In celebration of Missouri's Bicentennial in 2021, the Jefferson County Library teamed up with various local historical societies to offer a quick virtual tour of the interesting historical sites in the county. Click on the links below to begin the tour. Each covers a different part of the county, and each lasts approximately 30-45 minutes.
Mack Marsden Murder Mystery
Joe Johnston, author of The Mack Marsden Murder Mystery: Justice or Vigilantism? presented a talk on July 13, 2018 about the events that led to the death of the son of a pioneer Jefferson County resident accused of hog theft, arson, and murder.
The lecture was part of the Jefferson County Library Genealogy Department Bicentennial Speaker Series.

The Civil War in Jefferson County, Missouri explored the effects of the war on the local citizens whose divided loyalty turned neighbor against neighbor and family against family.
The two skits included "The Arrest of Mollie Rudder" and "The Sullivan Ballou Letter."
The presentation was part of a local genealogy series offered by the JCL Genealogy Department.
In this video you will meet three generations of the Bonacker and Weber families, descendents of early homesteaders, share their experience of and quiet pride in the land they have farmed for over 100 years. They speak of the vicarious nature of farming, and how each generation has worked to preserve the land and hand it on to the next.
