Light therapy lamps are used to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder by mimicking outdoor natural light. In late fall and winter we experience fewer hours of sunlight and more cloud cover each day. This can negatively affect individuals by causing an increase in sleeping, a decrease in overall energy level, and/or general feelings of sadness. Over time, light therapy has been shown to work for many people with S.A.D. by boosting their energy and elevating their mood.
Available at the Northwest Branch.
