Della Lang

Photo of Della LAng

An active member of several local civic organizations, Della did more than sit on the sidelines when there was work to do.  In 1978, Della was among a group of a dozen women who lead the campaign to organize a community library in High Ridge.  This was no small undertaking.  In the months and years that followed, these ladies worked tirelessly to make the dream a reality.  Run by volunteers, and maintained by donations and various creative sales, the library was constantly in need of innovative ideas for fundraising.  Della recognized very early on that that the local history of the county was woefully lacking.  She began an effort to collect as much information and memorabilia as possible to preserve and pass on the rich heritage of Jefferson County.  She wrote and published many books on the history of Jefferson County, Missouri.
