The Arnold Branch of the Jefferson County Library is now part of the growing Seed Library movement by becoming just the third library in Missouri and the first in the St. Louis area to offer a Seed Library. You can now visit the library and “check out” seeds to take home and grow. The vegetable, herb, fruit and flower seeds then ideally grow into mature plants that can be enjoyed or harvested as needed. Nothing is required to be returned to the Seed Library, but we will be accepting seeds saved at the end of the growing season at designated times throughout the year to help extend the seed library collection.
The seeds forming the core of the Seed Library are a donation from the Seed Savers Exchange, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and sharing heirloom seeds. We ask that you limit yourself to up to five seed packets per visit to ensure availability for all.
